Adult Services

Our schemes for adults aged 25 and over provide friendship and support for people with learning disabilities to participate in activities or hobbies of their choice at home or out in the community

Adult Befriending Scheme

Our Befriending Scheme for adults aged 25 and over provides friendship and support for people with learning disabilities and/or Autism to participate in activities or hobbies of their choice at home or out in the community.

How it works

A carefully matched volunteer visits the person regularly and spends time with them. Typically, volunteers help their friends to do things outside their home – a trip to the bowling alley or to the pub for example. They can also help them with any specific hobbies they have, and could accompany them to organised activities such as games sessions, discos and summer barbecues or the gym.

How it helps

The scheme helps by encouraging the people we support to make friends and spend time with new people, helping them to get out and enjoy themselves and building their independence, confidence and life skills. It also gives them a break from their parents or carers

Artworks

We believe that everyone has artistic potential – and our dedicated arts and craft activity group will help you unlock yours. We will give you the chance to try a wide range of creative activities – from painting to paper mache, jewellery making to music sessions, even drama and singing!

How it works

The group is designed by you – for you. Together with the other members you will decide what type of activities you do and develop your own personal art projects. Whatever you choose, we love having a great time, making lots of noise and getting as messy as we can!

How it helps

Joining Artworks is a great way to meet people, make friends, learn new skills and improve your confidence.

Thyme To Re-Vamp

Our ‘Thyme to Re-Vamp’ gardening project gives people with learning disabilities and/or Autism the chance to do an activity they enjoy in the open air and make friends in the process.

How it works

We offer a range of gardening services including, hedge cutting, grass cutting, pruning, fence painting, weeding, and permaculture planting. The people we support also have the opportunity to plant and grow a range of fruits and vegetables – giving them the chance to care for their own plants and enjoy the ‘fruits’ of their labours.

How it helps

We provide support to people who can find fitting into a day opportunity difficult, with our positive behaviour support advisor and trained staff, we can offer a flexible tailored programme, giving work experience and enabling people to develop work based skills and confidence in a working environment.
